7/5 - Taking flight

Now that we have dependable WiFi, here come the posts ...

On Tuesday July 5th, at 730 and 800 respectively, Donald Driver met us at the Peace Lutheran in Amherst and Good Shepherd in Plover. We boarded the Go Riteway bus and proceeded south to Chicago by way of I39 and I90. Delays Seemed to be theme of the day. Not that the delays Drastically altered our trip schedule; we did not miss a flight or anything, but Merely to inconvenience. You know the how the saying goes - there are two seasons in the Midwest, winter and road construction. The first delay Took place on I90 due to the 2nd season, particularly with lane shifts and a letter merger of 3 lanes to 2. This did not yet make us late. When we arrived at O'Hare, we first arrived at the wrong terminal, but still, did did not make us late. Ticketing, baggage check in, and even security did not delay us.

As we backed out from the gate and the engines started to fire up, we went back to the gate due to a malfunction. I'm really glad this malfunction occurred on the ground! While They called a mechanic to come and address the issue, we say on the plane while it what being fixed. Then They needed additional time to refuel the plane from the time we were waiting for the repairs. So, after all of the delays, we finally got underway after nearly 1.5 hours of waiting on the plane.

(But let's not kid ourselves, this is a great plan to wait on. Each seat is equipped with it's own screen with a plethora of options: such as new release movies, TV shows, music, games, and shopping.)

As we edge closer to the sky to Luther country, I wonder how many delays the Reformation endured before Martin Luther. Luther what not the first reformer. There were many, many others before Luther, but the conditions for Luther were more ideal than the others. The geography and distance from Rome, the political climate, and Gutenberg's printing press converged all: as the right time and the right place - no more delays, for the Reformation waits no more. We very much looking forward to our time in Germany.
